  PRESCRIPTION MEDICATION - RX Required
maropitant citrate is an FDA-approved medication used to prevent and treat vomiting and nausea in dogs and cats. It is effective for conditions such as motion sickness, acute vomiting, and post-operative nausea.
Uses:
- Prevention of acute vomiting and nausea in dogs and cats.
 - Treatment of vomiting due to motion sickness in dogs.
 - Management of post-operative nausea.
 
Dosage Information:
For Acute Vomiting (Dogs and Cats):
- 
Injectable Solution:
- Dogs: Administer 1 mg/kg (0.45 mg/lb) body weight once daily for up to 5 consecutive days.
 - Cats: Administer 1 mg/kg (0.45 mg/lb) body weight once daily for up to 5 consecutive days.
 - Route of Administration: Subcutaneous or intravenous injection.
 
 - Tablets (Dogs Only):
- Dogs 2-7 kg (4.4-15.4 lbs): 16 mg tablet once daily for up to 5 days.
 - Dogs 8-15 kg (17.6-33 lbs): 24 mg tablet once daily for up to 5 days.
 - Dogs 16-30 kg (35.2-66 lbs): 60 mg tablet once daily for up to 5 days.
 - Dogs over 30 kg (66 lbs): 160 mg tablet once daily for up to 5 days.
 
 
For Motion Sickness (Dogs):
- 
Tablets:
- Dogs 2-7 kg (4.4-15.4 lbs): 8 mg tablet once daily for up to 2 days.
 - Dogs 8-15 kg (17.6-33 lbs): 24 mg tablet once daily for up to 2 days.
 - Dogs 16-30 kg (35.2-66 lbs): 60 mg tablet once daily for up to 2 days.
 - Dogs over 30 kg (66 lbs): 160 mg tablet once daily for up to 2 days.
 
 
Administration:
- Tablets: Administer orally 2 hours before travel or as directed by your veterinarian. Do not feed for at least 1 hour before giving the tablet.
Precautions:
- Use only as directed by your veterinarian.
- Keep out of reach of children.
- Store tablets in a cool, dry place. Refrigerate injectable solution.
- Not for use in dogs or cats with known hypersensitivity to maropitant citrate.
Side Effects:
- Mild pain or swelling at the injection site.
- Rarely, some pets may experience lethargy, diarrhea, or lack of appetite.
