How to use

Give one chewable by mouth once a month, with or without food, at the tablet strength your veterinarian prescribes for your dog's weight. Simparica can be given year-round or during flea and tick season as your veterinarian recommends. If a dose is missed, give it as soon as you remember and resume monthly dosing. Ensure the whole tablet is consumed.

Safety information

Sarolaner is a member of the isoxazoline class, which has been associated with neurologic adverse reactions including tremors, ataxia, and seizures — reported even in dogs without a history of seizures. Use with caution in dogs with a history of seizures or neurologic disorders. Safe use in breeding, pregnant, or lactating dogs has not been evaluated. For dogs only — do not use in cats. Keep out of reach of children and animals to avoid accidental ingestion.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between Simparica and Simparica Trio?

Simparica (sarolaner) covers fleas and ticks only. Simparica Trio adds moxidectin and pyrantel to also prevent heartworm disease and treat roundworms and hookworms. If your dog takes a separate heartworm preventive, Simparica pairs alongside it; Simparica Trio combines everything in one chew.

Does Simparica kill ticks?

Yes. Simparica treats and controls five tick species: lone star, Gulf Coast, American dog, black-legged (deer), and brown dog ticks, with activity beginning within 8 hours.

How fast does Simparica work?

It starts killing fleas within 3 hours and ticks within 8 hours of administration, and a single dose keeps working for 35 days.

Is a prescription required for Simparica?

Yes. Simparica is a prescription medication, so your veterinarian must authorize it under a valid vet-client-patient relationship.

Is Simparica safe for dogs with a history of seizures?

Use with caution. Isoxazoline-class drugs have been associated with tremors, ataxia, and seizures, even in dogs without a prior seizure history. Talk with your veterinarian about your dog's neurologic history first.
